Kari Matchett Biography

Kari Matchett is an Canadian actress, best known for appearing in films such as 'Apartment Hunting,  Men with Brooms' and 'The Tree of Life.' Born in Spalding, Saskatchewan and raised there, she eventually relocated to Alberta where she completed high school. She began to develop an interest in acting during her teens. She enrolled at the Montreal's National Theatre School and then went on to the Moscow Theatre School for further training. She first appeared on television in 1996 as a supporting actor on the Canadian show 'The Rez. She appeared in series such as 'Forever Knight 'Ready or Not?' and many others in the same year. In the latter part of the 90s, she made her film debut in the film titled Papertrail. Later she appeared in movies like 'Men with Brooms’ and 'Cypher. She also had supporting roles in series such as "A Nero Wolfe Mystery" and "Blue Murder." Although she was appearing in films during the decade of 2000 and beyond, her appearances on screen were less than her television appearances. In 1998, she played the lead role as 'Colleen Blessed' in the Canadian drama series titled 'Power Play.' It ran for two seasons and 26 episodes and was praised by critics and advertisers. She was nominated for a 'Gemini Award' for her role in the series. Jude Lyon Matchett, her son was born in June of 2013. However, she did not reveal the identity of her son's dad. According to some sources, her ex-boyfriend is the father of her son. Kari Matchett met T.W. Peacocke started dating Kari Matchett around the middle of 1990s. They got married in October 1998. The marriage ended in discord and the couple broke up in 2006.
